Well y'see, one day they got tired of wearing white all the time and decided it was time for a change, unfortinately Gargamel chose the worst possible time to finally discover the Smurf village. He just happened to step on the vat of dye and tipped it over onto the fleeing Smurfs. At the same time, Papa Smurf was casting a spell to turn Gargamel to stone. It interacted strangely with the dye covered smurfs, turning them permanently orange. Unfortunately, this new minority was ostracized from the rest of the smurfy community because the orange Smurfs really clashed aesthetically with the blue smurfs. So finally the orange Smurfs left the village, but no sooner had they wandered out into the cold, hard world, than they were captured and sold into slavery to the toystores.
